ONE WEEK ABOUT Architecture
Introducing Maurer United Architects. We are Marc Maurer (1969) and Nicole Maurer (1969) and this week we will contribute to ‘One Week About’. We both studied architecture at the Eindhoven University of Technology. After our studies, we founded Maurer United Architects (MUA) in 1998.
MUA is known for investigating and redefining the borders of the architecture design-field, resulting into architecture, design, media and urbanism projects on various scales. Our interdisciplinary approach (PLAY) makes it hard to categorize us. Today, we work and live in Maastricht. Our office is based in the laboratory department of the Jan van Eyck Academy and we work closely together with the range of laboratories that is affiliated to this post-academic art institute.
Our works – architecture, public spaces, interior design and art installations – have been realized all around the world. Our main theme is to ‘mobilize the people’. To achieve this, we have teamed up with several like-minded autonomous designers and artists, such as Boris Tellegen, Geert Mul, Zedz, Richard Boeser, Herman Kuijer and Boy Bastiaens.
This week, each day we will further expand on one of these playful designers with a special interest in architecture.
