Philips Wing Rijksmuseum

By 23-11-2014

Last year, after ten years of remodeling, restoration and renovation, the Rijksmuseum opened its doors to the public. Both the building and the presentation of the collection underwent a total transformation.

The Philips Wing was also renewed and is now the new exhibition wing of the Rijksmuseum. As was the case with the main building, the architects Cruz and Ortiz were responsible for the design, together with Van Hoogevest Architecten, who undertook the restoration.  The opening of the Philips Wing on 1 November 2014 concluded the ten-year renovation and transformation project of the Rijksmuseum.

The world-renowned collection of the Rijksmuseum is presented in an entirely new way. The visitors travel through the centuries, experiencing an awareness of beauty and a sense of time. New in the presentation of the Rijksmuseum is the collection of the 20th century.
