Interior Zens

By 10-01-2016

The FINEST INTERIOR AWARD aims to honor interior design in various categories. This year, there were 19 winners in 18 categories – from office to private yacht, from retail to restaurant. The ceremony took place at the Dutch Embassy in Berlin. SchilderScholte architects from Rotterdam received two awards.

In the category Business Retail, the award went to the first European establishment of the Asian design brand Zens. In the show room situated on one of the oldest canals of Amsterdam, Zens presents its minimalist crockery and glassware.

Western design methodology and Oriental touches laid the foundation for the design. The effect of the repetitive pattern of light blue wooden bars, the illuminated frosted glass tops of the displays, the warm glow of the gold colored back walls and shelves of the wall cabinets contributes to a homely atmosphere, which in the Far East is synonymous with the tea ceremony.

An eye-catcher is the wall painting by the Dutch artist Roger Cremers. The natural tones of this subdued work of art are achieved by painting with tea, a concept advanced by SchilderScholte.
