360° BRNDWR #1

By 30-10-2015

Viewmaster Projects presents the art project 360° BRNDWR. This is a four-sided video art work on the top floor of the 25 meters high tower of the Brandweerkazerne (fire station) in the Capucijnenstraat 21 in Maastricht.

Viewmaster Projects has commissioned two artist duos – Erwin Driessens & Maria Verstappen and Persijn Broersen & Margit Lukács – with the creation of a site-specific artwork.

The first work of art, ‘GLOW’ by Driessens & Verstappen, is about the deformation of the glass of the tower. With computer-controlled processes, the 64 small windows suggested heating, fusion, movement and solidification. This symbolized the old and the new function of the tower of the fire station and of Maastricht as the first Dutch city where the industrial glass production was introduced.

‘GLOW’ was on view until June 2015.
