Creating collections together

By 09-06-2022

ONE WEEK ABOUT Masterly – The Dutch in Milano by Nicole Uniquole, founder and curator of Masterly.

The historic spaces of the Palazzo lend themselves perfectly to “site specific” presentations created in collaboration with enthusiastic Masterly participants. The impressive historic wall coverings, the magnificent gold-covered ceilings, it breathes the history of excess and luxury.

I asked Blok Plaatmateriaal and Abet Laminiti to develop a collection of wooden (table) tops especially for this historic location, in which the beauty of the wallcovering is shown to its full advantage. It has become the basis for the exhibition in the Sale Nobile in the Palazzo. Workingbert was asked to take care of the graphic work for this collection. And of course he said: yes! It has become a real ‘Gesamtkunstwerk’, seamlessly fitting into the 19th century building. The tabletops form the backdrop for the presentations by Elise Luttik, René Knip, Patrizia Donà, Tess van Zalinge and Janni van Pelt.

In the adjacent historic room, Aectual created beautifully designed 3d printed folding screens and poufs based on the brilliant colors and floral patterns of the wallcovering. A wonderful example of circular design. Made for the future and a feast for the eyes!
