Algemene Beschouwingen

By 05-03-2021

Algemene Beschouwingen (General Reflections) chooses alternative election poster. Voters determine on March 17 the winning entry from among numerous creative posters.

In order to actively draw the attention to the elections, Algemene Beschouwingen (General Reflections) organized an initiative to design alternative election posters. On  March 17 the public will choose the winning poster, which will be rewarded with the ABA, the General Reflections Award.

General Reflections is a platform that will make use of the Lower House Elections from 2021 to design alternative election posters. Participants were called upon to alter existing posters, to submit their own (alternative) designs or to send in posters with a general meaning after their own design. These subjects can be raising social issues such as youth, care or safety, or expressing a playful call to vote. Hereby freedom and creativity are the most important subjects.

As with the Dutch Lower House Elections, voting will take place at General Reflections on March 17. On that day, voters will vote for their favorite poster after which the winning poster will be handed over to its designer. He/she will also be rewarded with the ABA.

Publication and visibility
General Reflections is intended to actively bring the elections to the people’s attention with an unusual, experimental and alternative visual language.

Participating posters are part of an ongoing exhibition through the city of Den Bosch. The posters can be seen corona proof along a route through the city. In addition to the physical display, all entries are collected online on Instagram (@algemenebeschouwingen) and on the site algemenebeschouwingen.eu

About General Reflections
General Reflections is a project of the Nieuwe Bossche School and the Stichting Antishit. (Foundation Antishit). The Nieuwe Bossche School is an occasional collective of four design studios in the city of Den Bosch (ATTAK, Autograph, Studio Boot and Studio Turbo) and it stands for generously handling typography as an (illustrative) visual tool and the generous use of color. Antishit is a crossover community that brings music, art and sport together and presents them to a wider audience. This community has its roots in skateboarding and is founded on the DHZ-mentality.
