Miniatures

By 02-02-2018

Anna Bay is an illustrator who creates soft and colorful minimalist worlds made out of paper and other things you find in and around the house, like spices and rocks. Anna’s fragile miniatures make a big impact, pointing out the beauty and power of vulnerability.

Anna: “Color and light are important elements in my work. It fascinates me what you can say with them. I also like to use as few elements as possible to tell a story or to convey a feeling. I get satisfaction from the challenge to bring something back to its essence.”

“The handmade character gives the illustrations personality and life. There is also a big surprise element in it. When I start working on something I don’t usually know what it will end up like and often during shooting things happen that I could not have imagined.”

“I prefer to work without a sketch but rather with a color palette and a description of what it should be so that there is as much space as possible for spontaneity. When I make something very small, the world disappears around me, resulting in a kind of meditative state. I love it! “
