One Week About Packaging by curator VBAT

One Week About Packaging we present packaging design made in the Netherlands. We do this in cooperation with BNO NEXTpack. We invited some fellow Dutch packaging design agencies to show some of their work. Today we sneak a peek at work by Anthem in Amsterdam.

The history of Anthem’s Amsterdam office starts in 1952 with David Judd Studio in London. After a merger in 1979 with Dutch marketing agency Product Aid, DJPA began to drive a rather unusual vision for that time. Backed by a study of the Erasmus University Rotterdam, DJPA became an advocate of packaging design as a marketing instrument rather than a piece of art. Quaker Oats and Nobo Sprits in the Netherlands were amongst the first that strongly believed in the magic of design and in the logic of shelf-effective packaging as well.

Nowadays DJPA has evolved into Anthem Worldwide, a global design agency specialized in brand identity and packaging design focusing on food brands. For some brands, like Unox and Conimex, the agency has been a brand guardian for more than 25 years. The agency’s orginal belief to drive brand performance through desirability has served many brands like Knorr, Calvé, Bertolli, Grolsch, Aviko, Appelsientje, Coolbest Cup-A-Soup and Hertog for many years in local markets across Europe and beyond.
