Ba Hoe

By 31-12-2018

[ba hoe] …an expression of affirmative excitement and joy, usually as a reply to good news. Can also be used as greeting.”

‘Ba Hoe’ was an installation as part of the Dutch Design Week 2018 at Area51/040BMX, Strijp-S. The definition from the urban dictionary perfectly expresses its overarching theme.

Through digital printing the clothing industry is being revolutionized. Everybody is able to upload their preferred pattern or colour scheme, finally resulting in a fully customized and eco-friendly piece of clothing. The space was filled with many meters of digitally printed eco-fabrics draped on special designed display frames and showroom furniture, to show the principles of the production process past and present in an abstract manner.

To retain the 30-m long, high-quality ‘Biovate’ wallpaper of  last year’s project, Ulrike Jurklies decided to give the space a new destination and created 3D objects inspired by skate obstacles. Visitors were invited to walk through the installation, linger in the space and sit down on the foam obstacles to enjoy the view on the Ketelhuisplein.
