Bauhaus& the TextielLab – Koen Taselaar

By 12-09-2019

The TextielMuseum used the Bauhaus’ 100-year anniversary as an opportunity to invite four artists to produce new pieces for the museum’s collection in the TextielLab. Koen Taselaar, Krijn de Koning, Marijn van Kreij and Saskia Noor van Imhoff used the high- and low-tech possibilities in the TextielLab to shape their ideas, which were inspired by the Bauhaus.

The centuries-old Tapisserie de Bayeux, but also more recent textile cartoons are sources of inspiration for Koen Taselaar for his assignment. His subject is the history of the Bauhaus from 1919 to 1933. From early experimental and exuberant years until the late period, that increasingly revolves around architecture and functionalism.
