Bob’s your Uncle

By 31-05-2017

Michiel van der Kley has been working on a new collection of lights. The lights are all 3D-printed.

Michiel van der Kley: “I’m still looking into the possibilities of 3D printing. If you print objects one by one, why not add some variety to the scene? Using new digital fabrication methods we are able to choose from a wide variety of shapes, sizes and colors. We can actually have a personalized version for everyone, a version that suits you best. Still, all products clearly belong to one family.”

“The one series I show here is an ivory white lamp where each light differs in height, size, twist and skin. The largest is almost 70 cm in height, the smallest 23 cm. The pattern follows the shape of the lamp, as if the skin and the object are one. The other series is a colorful one. Each lamp not only has a unique shape and size, but the colors used to build the light also differ from one to another. 3, 4 or 5 colors are combined in one lamp. This way you get lovely combinations of color and striped light.”
