Daan Paans

By 25-09-2016

At the fifth edition of the UNSEEN PhotoFair, gallery LhGWR from The Hague presented Daan Paans (Foam Talent 2016) who showed his ‘Rhinoceros’ project, which LhGWR premiered earlier this year.

In this project the concept of time plays an important role, as in most of Daan Paans’ work. It focuses on the human quest to explain and control time and transience. On the basis of three case studies Paans puts one main question: How do representations of the past and the future influence our contemporary reality?

LhGWR (Deardeer + The Big White Giant) is an up-and-coming exhibition space based in The Hague close to the flourishing neighborhood Schilderswijk. LhGWR concentrates on lens-based media and as such has a keen interest in photography. It focuses on artists who discuss contemporary issues from both local and global contexts in their work. The gallery itself includes a project space as well as a main exhibition space, offering emerging artists the chance to develop themselves.
