DDW 2020 – Kazerne

By 24-10-2020

During Dutch Design Week 2020, Dutch Design Daily shows a live activity on location every day, today the exhibitions in Kazerne.

Recalculating Route – Floris Schoonderbeek
Searching, exploring, trying. The act of experiencing is elementary to achieve a lasting change in behaviour. From the belief that a new notion of a prosperous existence is essential, designer Floris Schoonderbeek feels the urgency to develop products that embody new habits and insights. Around his mobile workshop Fieldstation he invited other thinkers and doers to playfully come up with products that contribute to a nature-inclusive and high-quality existence. An encouragement to take a different direction.

Comma – Lidewij Edelkoort x InaMatt
A pause, a thought, a haiku… Presented in a time when the world has literally been forced to slow down, this contemplative installation explores how design, technology and craft can be seamlessly incorporated into our living spaces. Like the comma, these products inspire pause: they perfectly merge into the stillness of life. Everyday objects, soothing colours and recycled textiles quietly signal how it’s our turn to take time.

New Melancholy – Lidewij Edelkoort
After the reflection during the lockdown, we are left with a vast emptiness. Complementary emotions that arise therefrom lead to feelings of melancholy that will influence our culture. The double exhibition between Kazerne and Van Abbemuseum shows desolate work from the collection Edelkoort and the museums collection.
