De Dakhaas

By 03-06-2016

The De Dakhaas is an independent magazine about the city of Utrecht. The first issue appeared in October 2013, and since then eight editions have been published. The core editorial team consists of journalist Elja Looijestijn and designers Jimme Bakker, Lyanne Tonk and Wilfred van der Weide. Also a number of young journalists, photographers, illustrators and designers contribute quirky reports to De Dakhaas. Everyone works entirely free of charge. The magazine is for sale at twenty locations in Utrecht and through the website; every edition is launched with a party at different venues.

In addition to making the magazine, De Dakhaas likes working with partners in the city. This is how a coffee/love novel with The Village Coffee came into being, as well as a photo exhibition with the Centraal Museum, a monthly column in the talk show Aan de Slachtstraat, and an open-air film screening with the Louis Hartlooper Complex.

The theme of the most recent issue of De Dakhaas is: Utregs Beste (Utrechts Best Ones). In this issue, the editors describe in their very own unique way subjects such as the best doormen, bikini waxer and typically Utrecht swear words.
