At the beginning of August the Amsterdam record label and DJ collective Dekmantel organized for the seventh time its electronic music festival around the river IJ and in the Amsterdam Bos. A festival with a progressive choice in music styles and with a global audience. Studio Colorado has designed the visual identity of Dekmantel Festival since 2017, when Nine Fluitsma and Remco Oude Alink decided to join forces.
Twoyears ago, the foundation was laid with bright colors and a division of surfaces consisting of solid squares. Last year, that base was shaken up by allowing diagonals and protrusions, referring to the razzle dazzle shelter of warships. This year the identity has been developed further, more layered in line layout, both more refined as well as less uncompromising, thus creating a more sophisticated palette of rhythms and patterns that reflects the diversity in day and night program, live jazz acts and DJ sets.
A week before the announcement of the line-up in January, there appeared posters and billboards in London, Paris and Amsterdam to tease the expected audience. After this all facets of the festival were highlighted with a mostly online campaign. The identity grew organically along with the ever-expanding festival. The marking of the various locations, the merchandise and the website are also designed by Studio Colorado.
