Design from Den Bosch – Kranen/Gille

By 28-08-2020

ONE WEEK ABOUT Design from Den Bosch by curator Petra Janssen (Social label)

We all live or work in this beautiful city. We are at work in a calm and concentrated manner. Experience the special pearls from the Dutch design community from Den Bosch, today Kranen/Gille.

After graduating from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2004 Kranen and Gille initially went their own way. When the two met again in 2006, they started working on a project to be shown at 2007’s Salone del Mobile in Milan, entitled ‘The Von Trapp Dining Room’, a series of products inspired by Tiroler folk art. After this presentation, Kranen/Gille came to life as a studio, working on follow-up projects to be shown at fairs such as Design Miami and PAD London.

As time passed Kranen/Gille started working more and more with consumer brands, realizing accessible products in order to spread their vision on aesthetics. Kranen/Gille products mostly start their existence as scrapheap sketches in order to keep an open eye on the product itself. Working in this way enables Kranen and Gille to design freely before the product ends up in a CAD program, something that can be felt when looking at Kranen/Gille products.

Kranen/Gille has collaborated with museums such as Zuiderzeemuseum Enkhuizen and Het Noorbrabants Museum and designlabels such as Moooi, Fatboy and Functionals.
