Design from Den Bosch – Studio Boot
ONE WEEK ABOUT Design from Den Bosch by curator Petra Janssen (Social label)
We all live or work in this beautiful city. We are at work in a calm and concentrated manner. Experience the special pearls from the Dutch design community from Den Bosch, today Studio Boot.
Petra Janssen and Edwin Vollebergh together make up Studio Boot in Den Bosch since 1990, the first graphic/illustrative design agency in the Netherlands. Image-makers avant la lettre.
Petra en Edwin: “Living together also means thinking through design solutions at different times. Vision, handwriting and language complement each other. Success is not the result of collaboration only. Quality, originality and the way of working all shape the success of an enterprise.”
“We help each other through discussion and looking for boundaries. You balance each other out, compensating for each other’s shortcomings. Our versatility is probably the result of the combination of two personalities. There is no reason to make major adjustments to this situation. We try to stay sharp and renew ourselves, not to fall into repetition, despite success. We rather think up something new. Together.”
Beauty Is Not A Crime
Edwin: “I made this poster as a soft response to the upcoming cultural budget cuts in Brabant. ‘Alles van waarde is weerloos’ (Everyhting of value is defenceless, a quote from Dutch poet Lucebert) as a subtitle reflects our message well. We want to prevent art and culture from being dismissed as superfluous. Protest but soft and a bit sweet in shouting colours.”
