Pop-up design escape room-expo-bar

By 24-12-2017

The Plan-B cellar on the Hurksestraat in Eindhoven was the setting for a pop-up design escape bar during DDW 2017: Escabar. An idea of AnneRegelt in collaboration with the ESC RooM.

In a dark, underground network of corridors, visitors had to solve games by acting, thinking, and observing. All senses were stimulated. The goal: reach the bar within thirty minutes, where cold drinks were waiting for them. The theme of the games was design, and the setting consisted of work by designers such as Kiki and Joost, Daphna Laurens, Jelle Mastenbroek and Joris Petterson.

Escabar didn’t only offer a ‘design escape’, but it was also an opportunity to take a look at Plan-B, Eindhoven’s new creative breeding ground. In an old Philips building at the Hurk, creative entrepreneurs, start-ups, artists and designers are working together under one roof. Also public events such as exhibitions, lectures workshops and brainstorming sessions are organized regularly.
