District Awards

By 26-06-2016

Design District in Zaandam is an annual fair for people who are professionally involved in interior design. With a record number of 160 participants and an increase in the number of visitors by 15%, this year’s Design District was a double success.

At the District Awards, Chris Slutter scooped the first prize for the best product with his chair Spades. According to the jury, the product shows great ingenuity. “The two parts of the chair can be put together easily, the chair is stackable, easy to produce and to transport and does not contain any screws at all. Besides, it is quite comfortable as well!”

The second prize went to Rick Tegelaar’s Camfan for Tuttobene. The fan is like a clock work made with a camshaft that controls itself. “A fresh view of the fan. Silent and almost poetic – a beautiful object,” according to the jury.

The third prize went to Van Esch with the Wheels coat rack, designed by Dirk Ploos van Amstel. The jury found the wood and aluminum design beautiful and of high quality. “The wooden wheels run nicely in the aluminum profile, allowing the user to adjust the hooks to the number of coats in a jiffy.”

This year, the best stand was the one of Baars&Bloemhoff and Finsa (designs by i29). Their own materials had been used to create an object that immediately revealed their range of applications.
