doutzen, fashion & muse

By 01-11-2016

On 12 September 2016, PostNL released the sheet of stamps ‘doutzen, fashion & muse’. On the stamps are black-and-whites of the most famous Dutch supermodel, Doutzen Kroes, which have been made especially for this occasion by Anton Corbijn.

With this stamp sheet, PostNL pays homage to the Dutch fashion. The design is made by graphic designer Julius Vermeulen, who as a consultant visual communication at PostNL is also responsible for the design policy. In addition to his advisory position, he previously designed several stamps himself, including the children’s stamps of 1995, 2012 and 2015. He is also the initiator of the website about the design history of PostNL, www.iconenvandepost.nl.

Vermeulen: “Right from the start it was clear that we wanted to honor the Dutch fashion by linking it to a muse. When we began, I showed by means of photo collages the effect and the atmosphere I had in mind. With other forms and other colors – the final elaboration with the blue circles came later in a collaboration with Anton when the photos had been made.”
