Driving Dutch Design – Daisy van Loenhout

By 24-08-2021

ONE WEEK ABOUT Driving Dutch Design by curators Patrick Aarts Sen (BNO) and Katja Lucas (DDF)

Driving Dutch Design is the professionalisation and networking programme of ABN AMRO, Beroepsorganisatie Nederlandse Ontwerpers (BNO) and Dutch Design Foundation (DDF) that helps talented designers get started in the world of entrepreneurship. Daisy van Loenhout is one of them.

Lithe Lab is a research and design consultancy that focuses on personal design and innovative concepts in health care. By combining fashion with medical devices and supportive garments and textiles. The aim of Lithe Lab is to create more options for wearers so they can present themselves in the way they want. The research Lithe Lab does is focused on improving the functional and aesthetic values of these products.

Daisy van Loenhout started Lithe Lab in 2018 after finishing her Fashion Strategy Master at Artez Fashion Masters in Arnhem. She has a background in fashion design which she studied at Willem de Kooning Academy.

During her studies Daisy did a variety of internships from High Fashion at Todd Lynn, Fashion Technology at by-wire.net and TU/Eindhoven Wearable Senses Lab to a full R&D process for a new line for A Body Issue.

She has worked as a freelance designer and researcher for by-wire.net since 2014. Where Daisy has responsibilities from research, concept development to design, prototyping, production and presentation. As a freelancer she worked on projects for companies like Holst Centre, Philips, Bilihome and MVO Nederland.

Last year Daisy was selected to be one of the participants of ‘Taskforce Fashion 2020: Residency for Responsible Fashion’.

Driving Dutch Design
Driving Dutch Design made me take a critical look at my role within projects and how my skills as a designer and researcher are best utilized. I started Driving Dutch Design to learn more tools to better profile and professionalize my company, through the process I found out that I can better use my skills within a team than as an independent designer.
