Driving Dutch Design – Jeroen Timmer

By 18-08-2022

ONE WEEK ABOUT Driving Dutch Design by curators Patrick Aarts Sen (BNO) and Katja Lucas (DDF)

Driving Dutch Design is the professionalisation and networking programme of ABN AMRO, Beroepsorganisatie Nederlandse Ontwerpers (BNO) and Dutch Design Foundation (DDF) that helps talented designers get started in the world of entrepreneurship. Jeroen Timmer is one of them.

Designer Jeroen Timmer is amazed at the amount of good material that is thrown away in our world. In his eyes, ‘waste’ is simply material that has lost its function. As a designer, it is my job to look at this material with a different, fresh perspective and ask myself what else it can be. I design a new function for this material and thus give it value again.

With EnvelopeBook he produces perhaps the most sustainable paper notebooks in the Netherlands. The paper for the notebooks comes from leftover paper from companies that change their logo. After a rebranding, pallets full of envelopes and stationery are often left over. For these companies Jeroen reuses the paper directly into new products that are used as (business) gifts or circular office paper.

The big difference with recycling is that EnvelopeBook does not consume a drop of water. This saves a lot of energy and clean water. We also collaborate with graphics companies in and around Amsterdam to keep everything as local as possible.

In addition to special items for businesses, EnvelopeBook also offers its own collection of stationery. The notepads from the blue line do stand out the most. They are full of reused lavender blue taxpayer envelope paper.
