Driving Dutch Design – Kasia Zareba

By 23-08-2023

ONE WEEK ABOUT Driving Dutch Design by curators Patrick Aarts Sen (BNO) and Katja Lucas (DDF)

Driving Dutch Design is the professionalisation and networking programme of Beroepsorganisatie Nederlandse Ontwerpers (BNO), Dutch Design Foundation (DDF) and Stichting Stokroos that helps talented designers get started in the world of entrepreneurship. Over the next few days, we show the Drivers of 2023, Kasia Zareba is one of them.

Kasia Zareba is an Eindhoven based, polish origin independent designer. Her passion for ceramic, patterns and product design result in beautifully created objects with a playful twist.

The work of Kasia Zareba is characterized by a minimalistic language form and distinctive use of organic patterns. She works in an intuitive way using the interiors of her house as a testing playground for her products. This personal project often become starting points for collaborations with clients. With focuse on ceramics Kasia co-worked with craftsmens from Portugal, China and Poland, learning traditional techniques and applying them to the modern shape products.

Kasia studied architecture in Krakow and Amsterdam before graduating from the Design Academy in Eindhoven. An award winning pattern design ‘Fossil’ for the Italian tile company Ceramiche Refin brought her worldwide attention. For her artist in residence work at the ceramic factory Vista Alegre in Portugal she was granted funding from the Stimuleringsfonds. She is also an art director for design brand “Krafla”.

“Driving Dutch Design program helped me to shape and communicate the identity of my design studio and teached me the business side of having a company. It also broadened my network and allowed me to exchange the experiences of running a creative entrepreneurship.”
