Driving Dutch Design – Laura Voet

ONE WEEK ABOUT Driving Dutch Design by curators Marsha Simon (BNO) and Katja Lucas (DDF)

“The speed in our society forces us to make increasingly faster choices. But this speed also entails consequences. Just look at the number of burnouts here in the Netherlands. But also the consequences of the global waste problem and our fast consumer society are playing a steadily increasing role.”

“We more than ever need meaningful brands. Brands that stimulate us to create better habits and to look better after ourselves and our environment. Fortunately, there are more and more of these meaningful brands, brands with a mission. They are aware of the consequences of our fast society and they want to make a difference. As a graphic designer I strive for a more conscious everyday life, together with these brands that are also committed to this goal.”

“At this moment I’m in the middle of the Driving Dutch Design program. During this process you create the space to take a better look at yourself and your position as a designer. I, for instance, am a designer who puts the focus on the development of packaging, often in combination with the development of a complete visual identity. And not just to create something beautiful or suitable, but to support brands that contribute to a more conscious and more sustainable world. Precisely because I, too,  consider this an important issue.”

“The various master classes throughout the year provide new inspiration in all areas of entrepreneurship. In addition, Driving Dutch Design provides a network of talented designers from different disciplines with whom I can collaborate and from whom I can learn a lot. Great connections for new collaborations in the future.”
