Driving Dutch Design is the professionalisation and networking programme of ABN AMRO, Beroepsorganisatie Nederlandse Ontwerpers (BNO) and Dutch Design Foundation (DDF) that helps talented designers get started in the world of entrepreneurship. Lisa Mandemaker is one of them.
“My design practice is situated at the intersection of speculative design and social design. With my work I enable reflection on possible futures. I do this by creating prototypes and installations that pull the future closer. These designs are used as an ethical medium to open up a space in which soft impacts of emerging technologies can be explored and discussed.
I currently work within different futures: the future of reproduction, the future of health and (in)equality and the future of war and politics. To create these types of projects I work closely together with scientists, ethicists, healthcare professionals, designers and makers. “

“As a Driver in the Driving Dutch Design program I am learning to design my business strategy and how to structure it. It’s great to notice I’m getting more of a grip on how I want to run my practice, this helps a lot in deciding what kind of projects I want to pursue in the future. “
