Driving Dutch Design – Jeroen van Veluw

By 10-08-2020

ONE WEEK ABOUT Driving Dutch Design by curators Patrick Aarts Sen (BNO) and Katja Lucas (DDF)

Driving Dutch Design (DDD) is a program of ABN AMRO, Beroepsorganisatie Nederlandse Ontwerpers (BNO) and Dutch Design Foundation that helps talented designers get started in the world of entrepreneurship. Jeroen van Veluw is one of them.

Studio Jeroen van Veluw is a Dutch design studio founded by Jeroen van Veluw. In 2018 he graduated from the Product Design course at the Utrecht School of the Arts. The studio works on the design of simple, functional an industrial manufactured object, products and spaces. The aim is to create designs that people will love and that will last a life time.

Tamalé serie (2019)
The Tamalë series originated from my fascination with industrial architecture and landscapes. I found the inaccessibility, immensity and unintended aesthetics of industrial sites intriguing. I translated industrial structures into day-to-day functional objects, in an eclectic way. I try to make these utilitarian objects more personal by making them more accessible and tangible.

Traffic Jam (2019)
A series of beechwooden vehicles. Consisting of a minimal shape that stimulates everyone’s imagination. Driving in a traffic jam finally becomes something to look forward to. For all ages from 0 to 100 years.

GESTANZT (2020)
A cupboard as a cupboard should be. A structure that creates openness and lightness, a sneak peek of a personality. The cabinet is made of beautiful and strong materials that serve its function. The shape combined with the materials creates a strong and simple image. Rational, functional and elegant.
