Dutch Design Awards 2003

By 16-04-2017

15 Years Dutch Design Awards
Dutch Design Awards (DDA) celebrates the future. The open call for Dutch Design Awards 2017 announces the 15th edition of the most prestigious design prizes in the country. DDA has rewarded Dutch designers since 2003 for their most impressive, innovative, ground-breaking and sometimes world-improving projects. In this anniversary year DDA celebrates the future with a new batch of designs, publishing the archive and telling the story behind 15 years of the best of Dutch design. Today we show some of the winners from 2003.

Feiz – L.B.O. Functional and aesthetically pleasing office furniture collection that is available in different colours and from diverse materials. The strong lines and rounded corners are both firm and welcoming.

VOF aan de Werf – Oranjeboot

Futurebrand – Piazza d’Oro Out of Home Packaging

Studio Dumbar – Corporate Identity TPG Post Studio Dumbar expanded the PTT post style introduced in 2000 and created a clear, modern visual formula for TPG Post.

Raoul Deleo – Rails covers Six illustrations for six covers of Rails magazines.

Menno Anker & frank Dries – Straatnieuws Straatnieuws (Street News) is a newspaper for homeless people. Its design shows that cheap printed material can also be well-designed.

Concrete Architectural Associates – De Lairesse Apotheek In this project concrete took the clientʼs statement ʻitʼs all right to change everything; all I need is a chest of drawersʼ as a starting point. After all, the only way to organise a pharmacy is by means of drawers to store medications. In addition to conventional medicine, De Lairesse Pharmacy has one of the largest offers of alternative medication in the Netherlands. Within the pharmacy, customers are surrounded by drawers filled with both synthetic and natural medicine. This generates confidence and a sense of mental and physical well-being. As a literal translation of the clientʼs vision, the interior of the pharmacy uses a clear mix of materials.

Visser & Aleksandra Gaca – Hybrids + Fusion Futuristic interior textiles – a high tech fabric design.

Okra – IJsselkade, Doesburg

Marijke van der wijst – Exhibition J.J.P. Oud – Philip Johnson a dialogue Philip Johnson (1906), a friend and admirer of Oud, has designed an homage to Oud. His installation forms a bridge between two worlds: Europe and America, the 1920s, and the present. Johnson’s design was the basis for the Oud retrospective in the NAi, designed by Marijke van der Wijst.
