Enrichers
Enrichers is a design studio founded in 2015 by designers Luuk van den Broek, Nienke Bongers, Alissa van Asseldonk, Aliki van der Kruijs and Govert Flint. In 2016, Florijn Vriend joined as co-founder. The approach of Enrichersis based Govert Flint’s graduation project ‘Creatures with Creations & Their Segregation Of Joy’ the Design Academy Eindhoven, in which he did research on creating positive emotions by applying ‘environmental enrichment’.
Enrichers collaborate with scientists to have an impact on wellbeing and happiness through products and spaces. Neuroscientists have already known since the 40s of the previous century that our environment influences the development of our brains. Rodents in an enriched environment are less likely to get sick, age older and when they do get sick, they recover more quickly than in a deprived environment.
An enriched environment is a multisensory space that stimulates the brain to create several neuropaths; activating new brain areas. The positive effect ofthis is increased resilience. In short, by enriching the environment you can increase your life expectancy, you will get better resistance and you will be happier when you work.
