Exhibition ‘Do Dutch’ – Ambiente 2018

By 13-02-2018

The Netherlands is not only one of the most important trade partners at Ambiente in Frankfurt: this year it’s also the partner country of Ambiente, the trade fair in the field of ‘Living, Giving and Dining’. Industrial designer Robert Bronwasser was asked to curate the partner country’s presentation, which aims to draw attention to products by Dutch companies and designers.

In a setting resembling a huge and colourful 3D Mondrian painting, Bronwasser exhibits abstract still-life arrangements of more than 70 iconic articles for daily use that originate from Dutch brands and designers. The title ‘Do Dutch’ is an ode to Dutch creativity and mentality, which involves both an enterprising urge to innovate and the Dutch attitude of ‘just act normal’.

Bronwasser drew inspiration for his design from Dutch culture, architecture and the landscape. The installation, 24 metres long and 4 metres high, located in the high and light setting of the Galleria, features a juxtaposition of sense-stimulating geometrical still-life versions of Dutch products. Together they form an enormous 3D Mondrian painting with its own special colour palette.
