Exhibition ‘Materials Future Life’

By 25-09-2019

Simone de Waart (curator): ‘Our future is no longer just about the one-off use of products. Can we think in advance about smart solutions for when the use of a product has ended? How do we deal with the residual flows that arise within the current production system? What can we do with the products that are discarded because they no longer meet the consumer’s high standard?’

This selection of material research and product designs shows the vision of designers, researchers, artists, professionals and the industry. And – just as important – the cooperation between these parties, which shows that the exchange of perspectives leads to viable products with new business models.

The exhibition contains both experimental work alongside well-known brands, in the field of textiles, clothing, interior products and construction products. You can see how biomaterials and synthetic materials are recovered from waste material from which products are designed that invite to repair and give a fresh future. Each with its own handwriting and story.

Participants: Alei Verspoor (Pack), Daria Biryukova (Forzglaze), Desso-Tarkett, Danielle Ooms, Envisions, Eva Kablova (Kave Shoes),  Heleen Klopper (Made to Mend), Michelle Baggerman, Tjeerd Veenhoven, OvertredersW & Bureau SLA, Sowoon Chae, Simone Post (Vlisco).
