Fundraisingvideo’s mountaineer Wilco Dekker
In a show of support towards Doctors Without Borders, and their ambassador Wilco Dekker in particular, three major players in the Dutch design, video production and music scene are collaborating on the climber’s fundraising videos. By broadcasting the promotional videos, the parties involved hope to create awareness and raise funds for the charity, while inspiring others to do the same.
In a series of intense, almost unsettling teasers, the viewer is transported into the harsh, yet immensely-rewarding reality set to be faced by Dekker. Lead Art Direction and overall design are in the hands of Amsterdam-based agency Onesize. Video production is by Rotterdam-based Kaaps, no strangers to capturing real-life stories of sportsmanship at the highest level. tThe journey’s soundtrack is provided by music agency MassiveMusic.
Experienced mountaineer Wilco Dekker – who has climbed 5 of the world’s 7 summits – refers to his expedition as Borders to the Top (Grenzen aan de Top). His mission is to raise at least € 1, – for every metre he climbs (8.848 make up Everest), but he also begs the question: “Are there limits to your personal peak?” As for his choice of charity, Doctors Without Borders was the logical choice for Dekker as he spent time working for the organisation.
