Glass Blown Shelf
Fascinated by beautiful, funny or precious objects, Studio Thier & van Daalen created this design. An intensely coloured shelf, made entirely from glass. Traditional crafts combined with modern technology.
The Glass Blown Shelves are freely shaped bubbles, so every piece is unique. The mirror glass follows the outline of the organically shaped bubble. On the one hand you have the traditional craftsmanship of freehand glassblowing and on the other hand the digital CNC possibilities with sheet glass.
Thier & van Daalen: “The added bubble in front of the mirror creates a unique effect of depth and intense colour. Because of the natural strength of the material, you can place an object on a flat surface, as if your souvenir floats on a bubble. We were triggered by the beautiful and bright colours available in freehand glassblowing. Therefore we wanted to develop a series to investigate and play with these colours and shapes.”
The sizes are approximately 28 x 28 x 15 cm. More colours will become available soon.
