GLUE amsterdam connected by design

By 16-09-2021

The second edition of GLUE amsterdam connected by design is about to start. What is new and extraordinary about this edition? First of all, GLUE promises that the city of Amsterdam will be buzzing with creativity from all kinds of extraordinary locations this year, not just for three, but for four days. In addition, from 16 to 19 September 2021, twice as many participants present their latest designs.

Behind otherwise closed doors throughout the city, creativity is teeming. Designers, agencies, breeding grounds, makers’ spaces, design shops, galleries, hotels, GLUE Hubs, cultural partners such as the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, and, this year for the first time, creative institutes such as Artemis, will all participate in the four-day design route.

Everyone is looking forward to bringing the design city back to life together. This is evident from the more than 160 participants in the event, united in various Hubs and at locations that are easy to reach. GLUE has no less than twelve GLUE Hubs such as Hotel Arena Amsterdam, Contact Amsterdam, DMD Amsterdam, the Conservatorium Hotel, and Mart Visser Design, with the positive result being that several participants will be presenting at one location, leading to spontaneous collaborations. Design label Banne, by interior design company Zuiver, and GLUE founding partner Interface find common ground in their sustainable goals during a joint presentation at GLUE Hub Hotel Arena. And for her new project inspired by pizza, food illustrator Sandra Roozendaal is working with Hans de Gooijer of the remarkable Fernus pizza oven.

‘It’s incredible to see how big and vibrant the creative industry is in Amsterdam, that they find each other, and that the growth is far from over,’ says David Heldt, founder of GLUE together with Janine de Jong and Guus van Maarschalkerweerd.

To offer various creatives a well-deserved place in the spotlight, GLUE TV will be launched this year. In collaboration with creative media partner A’DAM&Co. and SALTO TV, participants will be interviewed by Daan Borrel, Jeroen Junte, Gabrielle Kennedy, Tracy Metz, Marsha Simon, and Viveka van de Vliet on the 18th floor of A’DAM Tower in a comfortable living room annex TV studio about their view on the profession, passion, collaborations, and the GLUE theme: ‘The city is ours’.

Design-loving visitors can walk or cycle the design route for free. The GLUE City Map is available in advance and during the event at all venues and via the website. Also check out the extensive daily program of lectures, cocktails and GLUE TV online at glue.amsterdam/program/
