GLUE amsterdam – Fourth day report

By 20-09-2021

Report by Anne Pieterse – project manager GLUE

Today I explored the GLUE exhibitions in Amsterdam North, starting with Equilibre Heritage. In front of the building there was a coffee cart by Espressi, arranged by Scarlett, the owner of Equilibre Heritage. This made for a very warm welcome. Scarlett gave us a tour inside, showing the different vintage objects and furniture they have.

After this visit I cycled to Satelliet Originals, which was another very warm welcome. The showroom is a lot bigger than you might expect from the outside, and had some nice surprises inside. Satelliet hosted some students from the HMC, showcasing their graduation works.

Very closely to Satelliet you can find Vyva Fabrics, who also opened the doors of the building during GLUE, showcasing their materials. I really liked the tables filled with samples of the fabrics, where you could touch and explore the different colors and textures.

At Broeinest we got free cocktails at arrival by Martin and Lydia and we had an amazing lunch at Toko Mansoor. Luckily the toko is there all year round to get food and not just during GLUE. Martin even made small cakes with the GLUE logo for the visitors, which was a very nice surprise. Broeinest presented all their brands of the material library. I got to touch and explore the materials and their applications. The combination of brands and materials was very nicely presented.

Close to Broeinest, you can find True Rabbit Creative Agency, where we were guided through the creative process of Max by the scale models he created of his work.

At Nel we arrived at exactly the right time, they hosted a borrel at the moment we stepped through the door. The atmosphere was amazing, the work presented there during GLUE by Thomas Eurlings fitted really well in the space in combination with the general collection of furniture.

We ended the day at the ADAM toren, at Wild at heart, where BNO, dutch design foundation and Dutch Design Daily hosted a meet and greet with experienced designers. Young designers could ask questions and tips while looking over Amsterdam with the amazing view that Adam&co has.

This was an amazing place to end GLUE 2021. I already look forward to next years edition!
