Grensverleggers 2

By 02-05-2023

In ‘Grensverleggers’ (Boundary Breakers), Het Wilde Oog shows the richness of Spakenburg’s heritage and love for theatre.

In the first part through costume designers who take a craft from traditional costume or fishing as a prelude to a new costume. These unique costumes are worn by theatre innovators from the 80s/90s, such as Gerardjan Rijnders and Marcel Musters.

In part two, Hans Lemmerman and Inge van Run ask: What is created when you give seven visual artists a costume they are allowed to adapt? Seven Spakenburg costumes, seven lives worn, seven lives perplexed. The artists are guided in their design by a poem by Wislawa Szymborska. They shape their perception of the texts. Seven theatre-makers who have liberated theatre from traditions are photographed in the extraordinary costumes.

Thanks to the concepts of Het Wilde Oog and the artistic power of designers and theatre-makers, Spakenburg’s heritage is transforming into a vibrant resource.

Results of the project can be seen in 2023/2024 in: Spakenburg Library, Café Halewijn Amersfoort, Theater Het Lichtruim Bilthoven, De Observant Amersfoort, Theater de Meervaart Amsterdam, Theater de Speeldoos Baarn, Theater de Lieve Vrouw Amersfoort, Stadsschouwburg Utrecht.
