Happily Ever After
One Week About The Social Design Lobby. Each day we feature one of the participants of the Social Design calendar, today Linda Huijbers with ‘Happily Ever After’.
At 25, I had to admit that the wedding plans I made at 12 were not that realistic. Talking to contemporaries, I found out that many shared my youthful expectations about settling down. Marriage is still seen as a social achievement, associated with safety, happiness, security and hope.
By documenting these conversations and performing with redefined marriage customs and traditions, such as rewritten vows, entertained wedding dresses and confrontational quotes, I challenge this persistent but outdated image that society still holds up to us.
The Social Design calendar can still be ordered via www.thesocialdesignlobby.com
The more people tear up, the better the position of social design!
