Healing Power

By 04-06-2021

Everyone strives for happiness and health. This exhibition shows healing traditions worldwide. Special ethnographic collections are shown in 7 themes, alongside the work of contemporary artists such as Damian Hirst, Remy Jungerman, Joseph Beuys and Marina Abramovic.

If you are not feeling well, a visit to the doctor is the obvious choice. But some people turn to treatment methods that can be traced back to centuries-old traditions. From amulets from Greenland to Tibet, singing bowls and hypnotic drums to shamans, witches and voodoo priests: there is plenty on offer. The exhibition Healing Power provides insight into various forms of healing power and shows the search of modern man for balance between body, soul and spirit.

Van Eijk & Van der Lubbe were asked to design this exhibition. Each room has been given its own approach. Each theme subtly supports the world between the earthly and the spiritual. Light, colour and layers of material work hand in hand with the special themes and works.

The exhibition was on show in Museum Volkenkunde in Leiden and will soon be on show in Tropenmuseum Amsterdam.
