Dutch Design Heritage
Henk Stallinga (1962), industrial designer and visual artist. Stallinga graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in 1993 and established his own agency in Amsterdam later that year. He gained international recognition with his installation called Een vierkante meter gezelligheid (‘A square metre of conviviality’), which was on display in the Garden Café of the MoMa in New York in 1995. For his industrial designs and public spaces, Stallinga uses a large variety of production techniques and materials, which are also the inspiration for his autonomous work. His designs and installations break through the logic between form, techniques, materials and functionality. The monograph Stallinga: This Is Our Logo was published by BIS Publishers in Amsterdam in 2000.
The Louis Kalff Instituut is the Dutch heritage centre for industrial design, located in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.
