Hermès – The World of the Horse

By 13-04-2017

Studio Noa Verhofstad realizes projects and campaigns for numerous clients in the worlds of fashion, art and advertising. We advise, create, build, photograph, film and create unique projects for unique clients.

We had been commissioned by Hermès and worked for the company earlier. Halfway through 2016 we were asked again to design the opening of a new store in Rome. Fourteen display windows that should make the origin of the brand perceptible.

We dived into the history of the brand and visited the family museum above the flagship store in Paris. We drew inspiration from the rich history that the brand has built up ever since 1837. We have taken the horse that has a central role in this brand as our point of departure. We created 14 miniature worlds in which the role of the horse over and over again derived meaning in different settings. The horse in mythology, in art, in sports, nature, as a means of transport etc.

Virtually everything you see is built up and made by hand and eventually equipped with a thin layer of velvet, referring to the soft skin of the horse. In the process, the products have been put in the setting in a natural way, enabling history, form and content to come together in a visual experience.
