Many families recognize themselves in a living room packed with toys that are barely used. The Houtje-Touwtje Set (Wood-String Set) inspires children to look at and use everyday things in a creative way.
The backpack contains a colorful booklet full of visual adventures. With 17 connecting elements, for example, a castle or a boat can be built of home-garden-and-kitchen attributes. It replaces ‘screen time’ by an imaginative way of playing and at the same time it’s connecting parent and child.
Coming up with an idea is one thing, but working it out is just as important. The design has been tested by five young families. The children were observed while they got started on the prototypes. This has provided valuable information for the further development of the design. It was extremely funny and inspiring to see how over and over again space was transformed into a different universe, complete with costume parties!
