Identity the Media Federation
The Media Federation is the new name for the Dutch Publishers Association. The Media Federation is the umbrella organization of five major trade associations of media companies and publishing houses in the Netherlands: Group General Publishers (GAU), GEU (Educational Publishing Houses), Magazine Media Association (MMA), Media for Trade & Science (WMD) and NDP News Media.
It is The Media Federation’s goal to disseminate the social and economic importance and the innovative character of the media sector. For this purpose there is also the Media Federation Academy, a platform for knowledge sharing and innovation.
The name change is closely associated with the new form of governance (federation) and better reflects the rapidly changing media landscape.
The challenge was to develop a logo and identity with which the Media Federation clearly distinguishes itself from the affiliated branch organizations and with which it succeeds in presenting itself powerfully enough without drowning out the identities of the others.
Media Federation Director Peter Stadhouders: ‘The position of the Media Federation towards the members is a flexible one: sometimes it serves as an umbrella, sometimes as ‘Intel Inside’ and another time we stand ‘shoulder to shoulder’ with the members. This identity is going to help us to fulfill these different roles. It has impact, but it is also open and inviting.’
