Imagewharf

By 10-05-2019

Nominated for BNA Best building of the year 2019
Category Stimulating Environments

Imagewharf in the Minerva port of Amsterdam is a city jungle of gardens, large sheds, bright yellow bridges and a graceful world with a fabulous view over port and city. In this generous complex, where the most essential outdoor areas are communal, the scale is human and people can live together in a surprising way.

‘In principle, the clients wanted a community for companies that work in the Dutch film and audiovisual industry; a place where set designers, filmmakers, social media geeks, stylists and production companies can work together. We have created a complex with a self-regulating character that perfectly matches this synergy and the individual DNAs. This also seems to appeal to other creative companies.’

‘The square on the roof and the garden are public, but all residents have an outdoor area in the patio, a balcony or a private roof terrace covered with wooden or steel pergolas. Or they have large garage doors that open up to the ceiling, so that you’re all of a sudden sitting outside with your laptop.’
