Information Path

By 12-10-2019

Especially for Graphic Matters, illustrator Jan Hamstra and art historian Sandra Rendgen created the ‘Information Path’. A 600-meter long timeline that guides you from Breda train station to the festival location at Havenkwartier. The timeline consists of 15 information design highlights, designed by Jan Hamstra by means of lino-cuts. They’ve been selected by German art historian Sandra Rendgen, author of the book ‘The History of Information Design’ that was recently been published by Taschen.

The illustrations show from what context the revolutionary designs originated, long before the profession of ‘graphic designer’ came into existence. Accompanied by Sandra’s explanations, the illustrations form an inspiring introduction on your way to Graphic Matters.

On Sunday, October 13th, Jan and Sandra are coming to Breda to tell you all you want to know about the posters and the stories behind them. You can join the tour for free. Later that afternoon, Sandra will also give a mini-lecture about the history of information design during Talking Matters at Podium Bloos (free entrance with a festival ticket).
