Iris van der zee
Snakes are poisonous, men are mighty, God is great, children are innocent, virgins wear white, princesses are beautiful.
Inspired by the most narrow-minded thinkers of Western civilization: the sculptors from classical antiquity, I put ancient stereotypes in the context of contemporary society – and I test their relevance. With a contemporary view, I wink at the great masters of the distant past. My visual language expresses itself in various disciplines. With photography as a basis, my projects alternate between sculpture, sculptuur, digitale – en analoge collage digital and analog collage and illustration, depending on the medium that the specific project demands.
