Joseph Beuys meets Nederlandse klederdracht

By 15-04-2017

Commissioned by Het Wilde Oog, eight artists/designers have each created two objects/pieces of jewelry: Lucy Sarneel, Marianne van Heeswijk, Maria Roosen, Keiko Sato, Couzijn van Leeuwen, Ted Noten, Rob Scholte, and Maison the Faux.

The first guiding principle was the kraplap, the characteristic Spakenburg shoulder cape of starched cotton. The second guiding principle was the personality/material selection/philosophy of Joseph Beuys. The eight artists/designers brought the two guiding principles to life in different ways in a duet between folk culture and art. Het Wilde Oog took photos of theater makers (studying now or trained in the past at the theater training of Artez Arnhem) and the kraplappen.

The results of the project are put on display in: Galerie Marzee Nijmegen, three locations of the Amsterdam Public Library, Kunst & Varen Amersfoort, De Lindenberg Nijmegen, Lloyd Hotel Amsterdam, Rozet Arnhem, Wasserburg Kleve.

Het Wilde Oog consists of theater makers Hans Lemmerman and Inge van Run.
