Fashion designer Karin Vlug aims to innovate the production process of garments and to make made-to-measure accessible to everyone. It is her goal to enable everyone to create a new wardrobe without sewing and with a minimum use of material and transport.

Karin Vlug graduated in 2014 from ArtEZ Institute of the Arts, in Fashion Design. With her graduation collection, she won the Frans Molenaar Couture Award. Her collections consist of standard and easy to produce pattern parts with straight angles. By putting these together in different ways, her designs ensure that everybody gets the right garments and the right sizes.

In the context of her research project ‘Smart Fashion Production’, she together with Laura Duncker developed innovative production methods. Digital designs are personalized based on three-dimensional body scans. A flexible mold is set to the digital design. Around this mold, they work with liquid textiles and loose fibers. Each garment is produced directly in the three-dimensional surface without any rest material.

The ultimate goal is to continue creating new designs with the same material.
