LABELEDBY. is a research and technological development studio in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, offering design expertise, collaborative creative services and exclusive products. Fabienne van der Weiden and Jessica Joosse have worked on reshaping the future of textiles since they started collaborating in 2015 during their Master’s study at the Eindhoven University of Technology.
Since then, they have developed many textiles and products for various companies in the fields of fashion, interior, sports and automotive towards an innovative future. Next to that, they curated the Digital Tech Runway Show for the Bangladesh Fashionology Summit in 2019 and co-produced a line of garments with a Bangladeshi factory, learning the craftsmanship from the employees and inspiring them about technical applications in textile.
Fabienne & Jessica: “It is in our DNA to share our knowledge and expertise and we do this through workshops. We are always looking to explore and exploit the possibilities of new techniques such as 3D printing and lasercutting. While developing new textiles for a diverse range of applications, we also research alternative digital manufacturing systems for textiles and garments. These systems have the ability to automate labour-intensive and dangerous processes, improving worker safety and wellbeing. And they also encourage on-demand, personalized and local production of garments, resulting in less waste and more value for the customer – a vision we strongly believe in.”
