Light art festival GLOW

By 16-11-2020

Connecting the Dots

The light artwork was shown to the world on November 12 from 5 pm. The immense light artwork ‘Connecting the Dots’ stretched all over the city. A work that consisted of more than 1,500 LED lamps, 1,000 large red light points in the sky and more than 20,000 red light artworks in front of the windows. The two striking chimneys of the former Philips site Strijp-T have been transformed by artist Hugo Vrijdag into a permanent work of light art. This was the immediate starting shot for GLOW 2020.

From that moment on, Eindhoven covered itself district by district in an enormous mantle of blue light. This blue sky above Eindhoven, designed by the Finnish light artist Kari Kola, created a different effect every day. A spectacular natural phenomenon, which was influenced depending on rain, clouds and fog. The red balloons, dots, by artist Ivo Schoofs, danced in the wind. An overwhelming sight. The work of art could not only be seen from home in Eindhoven, but was also broadcast all over the world via a temporary live stream.

This year GLOW also appealed to everyone by making their own red dot and providing a message to the world. All over the world, more than 20,000 homemade red dots have appeared on the windows in recent days. In this way, everyone, young and old, was part of the fifteenth edition of GLOW 2020. On the night of November 14, the lights of ‘Connecting the Dots’ went out.
