Do it like Droog. 25 Years Droog Design
Droog is a well-known concept in the world of design. Together with prominent designers, Droog is engaged in projects and products that initiate or reflect on public debate. Their most iconic designs are now on display at Museum Kranenburgh.
In 2018 it is 25 years ago that Droog Design presented itself for the first time during the Salone del Mobile design fair in Milan. Curators Gijs Bakker (1942, designer) and Renny Ramakers (1946, art historian) had spotted a new mentality among a younger generation of designers. Their work was radically different and the presentation created a true sensation. Now, 25 years later, Droog Design has put itself on the world map as a constant innovator.
Droog Design is dynamic, but has always adhered to one basic thing: their mission to connect design in an original way with large social themes and developments. Common objects such as furniture, lighting ornaments and other items from everyday life are presented in unusual ways. For today’s designers, re-use and social design are major themes. For Droog they have been the leading principle for 25 years.
Design studio Koehorst in ‘t Veld designed an elegant walking route for this exhibition that in-terconnects the designs in an organic way.
