Marblelous

By 03-12-2019

‘Marblelous’ was inspired by the design principles nature employs to construct the skeleton of radiolarians (one-celled organisms that have an extraordinary geometric skeleton). The same technique of extracting raw material out of a liquid substance to build constructions with was applied for ‘Marblelous’.

This concept was adopted to build a series of interior products with materials from industrial processes that are seen as waste. Marble grit (ground marble waste) is a by-product of the marble quarrying industry and has very few valuable applications.

Marble grit’s qualities of adhesion and density wee embraced in order to ‘freeze’ elastic metal meshes by submerging them in a concrete-like mixture that contains up to 80% of marble grit.
